Ocmulgee River:
Generation at Jackson is beginning to slow down for the Summer, but levels are still higher than average summer flow. Always check gauges before paddling the upper stretches of the river. The Macon stretch is still very popular for tubing and paddling, and with the hot weather, it’s a great time to get out there. Public access is open.
Fishing has been good, with topwater action beginning to pick up with the warmer weather. Bring a good assortment of poppers and dries in sizes for both Bass and Sunfish, as both have been hungry lately!
Hot Flies:
Deer Hair Popper, Frog #1/0
Boogle Popper, Electric Damsel #4
Micro Popper, Black #10
Flint River:
Levels have up and down recently, but consistently floatable. Kayaking and Canoeing are a good option for a day trip, but make sure to check the weather and levels, and to ALWAYS wear a PFD when paddling the river. Public access is open.
Fishing has been good, with topwater action beginning to pick up. Subsurface approaches will yield more fish, but sometimes it’s just about seeing that eat, so make sure to bring a few poppers and dries in your box.
Hot Flies:
Crittermite, Olive #4
Boogle Popper, Pearly White #4
Hot Flash Minnow, Shiner #2
